Minimum requirements

This page describes the minimum requirements for using Knox Remote Support.

Additionally, ensure that Knox Remote Support agent is running the latest version, so that your support sessions work as expected.

Licenses

To use Knox Remote Support, you must have a Knox Suite plan.

Additionally, to ensure that Knox Remote Support performs optimally on work profile and work profile on company-owned device management types, you should configure specific Knox Service Plugin policies with your EMM. See Knox Service Plugin for more information.

Account

A Samsung account is required to start using Knox Remote Support. See Create a Samsung Knox account for more information.

If you want to launch Knox Remote Support from Knox Manage, you must still sign-in to the Knox Admin Portal, even if you access Knox Manage from a direct link.

Supported devices

Knox Remote Support is designed for Android devices, and works for both Samsung and non-Samsung devices. Non-Samsung devices have some limitations with regards to which features Knox Remote Support can control.

  • Home
  • Left and right controls
  • Screen rotation buttons
  • Touch controls

As IT admins can't use these features in the Knox Remote Support viewer, the user should control the device instead.

English, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese.

If the selected language in the Knox Remote Support agent isn't supported on the device, it defaults to English.

System requirements

IT admins can use the Knox Remote Support console on a PC. Users must install the Knox Remote Support agent on their device before IT admins can connect to it.

Supported web browsers:

  • Google Chrome 50 and higher
  • Microsoft Edge 95 and higher
  • Mozilla Firefox 65 and higher

For the best experience, use one of the supported browsers listed above. Safari is not recommended.

Knox Remote Support agent (on device) Android 12 and higher

For devices running Android 15 — non-Samsung devices and Samsung devices in DeX mode — the remote session disconnects when the device screen turns off. The device users must ensure the screen remains active and doesn't turn off during the session.

Knox Remote Support uses the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol 1.3 to ensure secure network communication.

Configure the firewall

You may need to open certain domains and ports in your firewall to ensure Knox Remote Support can extend beyond your local and protected network domains and connect to the Knox server and its supporting resources.
