On this page, you’ll find answers to some common questions related to switching the sign-in method to Samsung account for Business.
The email address used to sign in with your personal Samsung account cannot be the same as your account ID in the company’s Samsung account for Business.
To use a work email as your account ID, you must verify your domain in the Samsung account for Business console.
After you switch the sign-in method, sub-admins receive an email notification to activate their account IDs. After the sign-in method switch is successful, sub-admins can change the email address specified in the personal Samsung account to use it as their account ID.
Ensure that your sub-admins do not change the email address before the switch process is completed, as they will not be able to access the Knox Admin Portal.
If you assign the same email address, the sub-admin will receive an email notification that guides them through the process to change the email address in their personal Samsung account, before they can activate their Samsung account for Business account ID.
As the super admin, you can try to avoid this duplication by creating and assigning a unique ID to the sub-admin when you initiate the process to switch the sign-in method.
Sub-admins can change their email address in their personal Samsung account after the process to switch the sign-in method is complete.
Ensure that your sub-admins do not change the email address before the switch process is completed, as they will not be able to access the Knox Admin Portal.
To add and verify a domain, you must be an admin in the Samsung account for Business console. Note that you can verify a domain only after your company registration is reviewed and approved.
To verify a domain:
- Go to the Samsung account for Business console.
- Click Settings > ACCOUNT SETTINGS tab.
- Click Add and enter your domain.
- Click Verify against the domain name.
- Copy and share the TXT record of the domain with your Domain Name System (DNS) admin or IT team to add it to your domain server’s zone file.

Domains can be of the following types:

Default domain: The domain created when you first sign up for Samsung account for Business. Default domain is created from the company website specified during sign up. If you do not specify a website, a random 8-digit domain is automatically generated for you and set as the default domain. You can’t change the default domain.

Verified domain: The domains you added and verified after your company registration is verified.
Your account ID is specific to your company’s Samsung account for Business. It’s generated and shared with you via email when:
- A super admin invites you as a sub-admin
- A super admin switches the sign-in method to Samsung account for Business
You can find your account ID in the email notification sent to you from the email address SA.noreply@mail.samsungaccount.net.
Account IDs are created in the format: user ID + @ + domain. In case of default domain, the account ID formats are:
user ID + @ + <your company domain>.accounts.samsung.comuser ID + @ + <8-digit auto-generated domain>.accounts.samsung.com
While your account is under review, you can continue to access and use the Knox Admin Portal using your existing personal Samsung account.
The Location Manager role in Samsung account for Business provides a Knox admin with full access and privileges to manage all users in a service location. In the Samsung account for Business console, a service location is mapped to a Knox company account.
It means that your company’s D-U-N-S number, VAT, or Business Registration Number is already in use in an existing Samsung account for Business.
You can take one of the following actions:
- Map the sub-admin to the existing account ID, after verifying that it belongs to the admin you’re trying to add.
- Provide the sub-admin with a new account ID.
The same account ID can’t be used in different Knox service locations. You must change the account ID to proceed.
If your company uses multiple Knox accounts, you can add the Knox super admins as admins in the Samsung account for Business console. The admins receive email notifications to activate their Samsung account for Business account IDs.
No additional approval is required for the admins you add.
You can verify the user and add them as admin or location manager in the Samsung account for Business console.
When inviting super admins from different Knox accounts to your Samsung account for Business, you don’t need to manually create service locations. Service locations are automatically created when:
- A Knox super admin signs up for a new Samsung account for Business
- A Knox super admin switches the sign-in method of their Knox company account to an existing Samsung account for Business
To add a super admin to an existing Samsung account for Business:
- Decide on a Samsung account for Business role for the Knox super admin. You can assign them one of the following roles:
- Admin: Grants global access, full privileges, and administrative control over all Knox accounts and users in the company’s Samsung account for Business.
- Location Manager: Restricts access to a single Knox company account.
- Add the Knox super admin as admin or location manager to your company’s existing Samsung account for Business. The super admin will receive an email invitation to activate their account ID.
- To add a Knox super admin as a location manager, first create a virtual location in the Samsung account for Business console. This location is not the same as a service location — it acts as a placeholder in the console and is not linked to any Knox company account. Invite the Knox super admin as a location manager of this location.
- When the Knox super admin uses the invitation email to activate their account ID and complete account setup, a service location is automatically created and linked to their Knox company account. They will have access and administrative control over the linked Knox company account only.
- (Optional) Delete the virtual location you created in step 2 for adding the Knox super admin as a location manager.
