Overview
The One UI 6 welcome screen appears following a device update. Some users may wish to disable this screen.
Fully managed devices running One UI 6.1.1 or higher don’t show the welcome screen.
This workaround is only applicable to devices that have already been set up. For new devices, disabling the One UI 6 welcome screen results in a device enrollment failure with the error
Action Not Allowed error
.
Workaround
If the device has already updated to One UI 6 and the welcome screen is visible, this workaround is no longer applicable. Setup must be completed on the device.
To disable the One UI 6 welcome screen, before updating to One UI 6, disable the com.sec.android.app.SecSetupWizard package. The process for this procedure depends on your EMM. Consult your EMM’s documentation for more information.
To disable the package with Knox Manage:
-
In the Knox Manage console, go to Profile.
-
Create a new profile or modify an existing profile.
-
Open the Android Enterprise > App Restrictions policy drawer, and modify the following policies:
Policy Value Block Certain Apps from Running Apply Block Certain Apps from Running > App List Deselect com.sec.android.app.SecSetupWizard. -
Click Save & Assign to push the profile to your target devices.
By completing this process, the One UI 6 welcome screen will no longer appear when you upgrade your device fleet to One UI 6.
