Knox Mobile Enrollment frequently asked questions
Last updated March 17th, 2026
On this page, you’ll find answers to the most common questions that new customers have about Knox Mobile Enrollment.
Knox Mobile Enrollment lets you quickly and easily enroll corporate-owned Samsung devices into your Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution and a selection of Knox cloud services, saving your company time and resources. With advanced security capabilities and staging options, you can enroll your device fleet with ease, regardless of its size or network environment.
Knox Mobile Enrollment is a free solution offered by Samsung and can be used without a license. However, to enable advanced settings, such as device lock and app installation during enrollment, you’ll need to purchase a relevant Knox Suite Plan.
When registering for Samsung Knox, you can either sign up for the Knox Suite - Enterprise Plan or Knox Suite - Base Plan. Both plans allow you to use Knox Mobile Enrollment freely. However, the Knox Suite - Enterprise Plan trial also grants access to other Samsung Knox services and allows you to apply advanced settings to up to 30 of your devices for the trial duration.

Knox Mobile Enrollment is officially supported on Samsung devices running any of the latest five major Android versions, including the latest version.
Devices running unsupported Android versions may still proceed with enrollment, however we cannot guarantee the enrollment functionalities and the security capabilities will function as intended.
For the most up-to-date list of devices that Knox Mobile Enrollment supports, see Devices secured by Knox.
This will depend on the Samsung device model and the location you selected when registering for a Samsung Knox account. In some cases, you may need to create a separate account to enroll devices purchased in different locations. See Cross-region support for detailed information.
To begin using Knox Mobile Enrollment, click GET STARTED from the top-right corner of the Samsung Knox website. You can register for either the Knox Suite - Base Plan, or Knox Suite - Enterprise Plan free trial.
If your trial request for the Knox Suite - Enterprise Plan is approved, a trial license is automatically added to your account. This trial license will allow you to access the Knox Admin Portal, but isn’t required to use Knox Mobile Enrollment.
As Knox Mobile Enrollment is a free solution, once you have access to the Knox Admin Portal, you can continue to use the service for as long as you wish. However, with the Knox Suite - Enterprise Plan 90-day trial license, you can also apply advanced settings to up to 30 devices. After your trial ends, a paid license is required to continue using advanced settings.
To use Knox Mobile Enrollment, you’ll need to first add your device IMEIs to the console. The simplest way to do this is by getting your Samsung-approved reseller to upload the devices on your behalf. If your devices aren’t purchased from a reseller, use QR code enrollment to add devices to the console.
If you’re experiencing issues, the Knox Mobile Enrollment documentation provides various how-to videos, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles (KBAs) with step-by-step resolutions to known issues.

Yes, you can. To turn off advanced settings in an enrollment profile that’s already been assigned to a device:
-
Assign a profile with standard settings to the device. There’s two ways to do this:
- Edit the profile to disable Advanced settings, then re-assign it to the device.
- Assign a different enrollment profile with standard settings to the device.
-
Factory reset the device. Once the device boots up, it’ll enroll with the newly assigned profile.
During enrollment, if the server detects a valid license, the device is enrolled in the EMM with advanced functionality. However, if no valid license is detected at the time of enrollment, the device still enrolls in the EMM, but enters the Provisioned (restricted) state, where only standard settings are available and advanced functionality is restricted.
