Overview

With Knox Manage, you can deploy kiosk mode on a device enrolled in Knox E-FOTA. However, when the device is in kiosk mode, you may notice that the device doesn’t receive B2B Firmware-Over-the-Air (FOTA) controls.

How to enable FOTA notifications for devices in Knox Manage kiosk mode

Kiosk mode only allows pre-listed apps to run. To add the B2B Knox E-FOTA app to the allowlist, add the com.wssyncmldm package as a System App:

  1. In the Knox Manage console, go to Profile > Manage System App.
  2. On the Manage System App dialogue, click Add and enter the following information in the Add System App policy field:
    • Platform: Android
    • Package Name: com.wssyncmldm
    • Application Name: Update Service
  3. Click Save.

To enable FOTA notifications for software updates, add package com.wssyncmldm to the kiosk allowlist:

  1. In the Knox Manage console, go to Kiosk. Select the kiosk you’d like to modify, then click Modify.
  2. On the Modify Kiosk page, go to Allowlisted Settings > Select.
  3. Select Update Service application, then click OK.
  4. Click Save > OK.
  5. Enter a comment in the Update Kiosk Version dialogue, then click OK.
  6. On the Kiosk Details page, click Apply and push the kiosk to your devices.
