How to re-apply a Single App Kiosk after sending the Exit Kiosk Mode command

Overview

The Knox Manage Exit Kiosk Mode command allows devices to exit kiosk mode without requiring unenrollment. With this command, you can change the device settings after applying a Single App Kiosk.

This article guides you through the steps on how to configure a Single App Kiosk on a device in Knox Manage, as well as how to re-apply it after sending the Exit Kiosk Mode command.

How to configure a Single App Kiosk for devices in Knox Manage

To enroll a device in a Single App Kiosk, you can create a Single App Kiosk in Knox Manage and add it to a profile:

  1. On the Knox Manage console, go to the Application page and add and assign the application as a Single App Kiosk.
  2. Navigate to the Kiosk page, and create a Single App Kiosk.
  3. Navigate to the Profile page, and create a new profile or modify an existing profile to install a kiosk application using a profile.
  4. On the Set Policy page, go to the Android Enterprise policy drawer and click Kiosk.
  5. Set Kiosk App Settings to Single App Mode.
  6. Beside the Kiosk Package Name policy field, click Add and select the Single App Kiosk application.
  7. Click Save or Save & Assign to push the profile to your device.

How to send the Exit Kiosk Mode command

To change the device settings after the kiosk is set up, send the Exit Kiosk Mode command:

  1. On the Knox Manage console, go to the Device page.
  2. Select the device from the list, and click Device Command.
  3. On the Device Command dialogue, go to Knox Manage and select Exit Kiosk Mode > OK.

How to re-apply a Single App Kiosk after sending the Exit Kiosk Mode command

To enter kiosk mode after sending the exit command:

  1. On the device’s task manager, clear all recent apps.
  2. On your Knox Manage console, go to the Device page.
  3. Select the device from the list, and click Device Command.
  4. On the Device Command dialogue, go to Device and select Push Profile > OK.

Ensure the device is out of kiosk mode before pushing the profile. You must clear the kiosk application from the task manager, or the user may be able to use the navigation bar and exit the kiosk.

After pushing the profile, the device displays the kiosk application again.
