Invalid file error when downloading an automated email report

Overview

When downloading a Microsoft Excel file from an automated email report generated by your Report Mailing Settings configuration, you may encounter the following error:

Download
Not a valid file.

Cause

The Knox Manage team has identified an issue with automated email reports that contain both default and custom reports, and is working to resolve this in a future release.

Workaround

As a temporary workaround, you can make a copy of the default report to send with custom reports in your automated email:

  1. On the Knox Manage console, go to Advanced > Report.

  2. On the Report page, select the default report you want to include in the automated email.

    Only one report can be selected at a time.

  3. Click Copy.

  4. Enter the Report Name and Report ID.

  5. Click Save > OK.

  6. Click Report Mailing Settings, select your existing scheduled email, then click Modify.

  7. In the Modify Report Schedule dialogue, select your newly copied Report, then click OK.

  8. Change the From Date to today.

  9. Click Save > OK.

Your automated email report now contains valid file downloads for default and custom reports.
