Firmware update control

To encourage users to update their device’s firmware to the latest version, you can send update reminders.

Set a firmware update reminder

To set a firmware update reminder:

1. On the Policies page, click FIRMWARE UPDATE CONTROL.

2. On the Firmware update control screen, enable Firmware update control.

3. Configure your Send update reminder settings:

   

   • Set a number of days before the device starts receiving update reminders. You can select between 7 — 30 days.
   • Enter a reminder Period to determine how long the message displays.
   • Enter a reminder Message.

4. (Optional) Enter your Contact information.

5. (Optional) Set limits for when update reminders can be shown to users:

   

   • You can define set hours every day during which update reminders won’t be shown.
   • Select Do not show during the selected time period to set a specific time period during which update reminders won’t be shown.

6. Click Save.

Set firmware update reminders in bulk

You can select devices in bulk by entering their IMEIs or serial numbers into a standardized template. The maximum number of devices you can select in one action is 10,000.

To set firmware update reminders in bulk:

1. Select BULK ACTIONS in the bottom of the left navigation pane.

2. To download a standard template, click Download CSV template.

   For information on how to create a properly formatted CSV file, click Instructions for all bulk actions from the bottom left-hand side of the Bulk actions screen.

3. In the ADVANCED CONTROLS section of the Bulk actions screen, select MANAGE FIRMWARE UPDATE CONTROL and upload your CSV file containing the device IDs.

4. Refer to steps 3 to 5 of the Set a firmware update reminder section to:

   • Configure your Send update reminder settings.
   • (Optional) Enter your Contact information.
   • (Optional) Set limits for when update reminders can be shown to users.

5. Click Save.
