Knox Configure editions
There are two editions of Knox Configure: Setup and Dynamic.
Setup edition
Setup edition is designed for one-time deployments of apps and settings to enrolled devices that won’t require incremental updates in future.
To change a device’s configuration after a Setup edition profile has been assigned to it, the device needs to be factory reset and configured again.
Setup edition includes a limited subset of the policies and settings available in Dynamic edition, and you can only create Normal mode profiles while using the Setup edition.
Dynamic edition
Dynamic edition allows you to update enrolled devices over the air as many times as needed without a factory reset.
Dynamic profiles have access to the full feature set of Knox Configure, including ProKiosk mode, Enterprise Billing, Knox Shared Devices, and more.
Compare Setup and Dynamic edition features
You can view a Setup and Dynamic edition feature comparison table directly from the Knox Configure console. To view the table:
-
Create or edit a Setup or Dynamic edition profile.
-
On the Configuration mode tab, click the Feature Comparison Table link above the Setup or Dynamic edition selection field.
Profile modes
Depending on your Knox Configure edition, you’ll have the ability to create either a profile in Normal mode or a ProKiosk mode.
Normal mode
This mode allow the device to run as a normal phone, tablet, or wearable, but with the specific settings pre-applied by Knox Configure. If you are using Knox Configure: Setup edition, this is the only profile mode available.
ProKiosk mode
This mode restricts the device’s functionality to a specific application, or group of applications, and prevents or limits unwanted device activity by the user. This mode is only available with Knox Configure: Dynamic edition.
