How to enable or disable device bars with Knox cloud services

Overview
This article explains how to enable or disable different device bars with Knox cloud services. On your device, there are different types of bars:
Bar | Description | Can be configured with |
---|---|---|
Status bar/system status bar | The status bar contains notification and system icons. The status bar is located at the top of the screen. | Knox Manage, Knox Configure, Knox Service Plugin |
Navigation bar | The navigation bar allows for controlling navigation on the device. The navigation bar is located at the bottom of the screen. | Knox Manage, Knox Configure, Knox Service Plugin |
System bar | The system bar consists of both the status bar and the navigation bar. | Knox Manage, Knox Configure |
Taskbar | The taskbar is a One UI feature that allows for users to access frequently used apps. The taskbar is located at the bottom of the screen, and is available for Samsung tablets and the Galaxy Z Fold. | None |
Now bar | The Now bar is a One UI feature that allows for users to view notification, music, or modes and routines from the lock screen. The Now bar is located at the bottom of the screen. | None |
How to change the device bars with Knox Manage
With Knox Manage, you can configure the following device bars:
- Status bar
- Navigation bar
- System bar
The Taskbar is unavailable for devices in Kiosk mode.
The following profile policies are available for configuration in Knox Manage under Samsung Knox (Android Enterprise):

How to change the device bars with Knox Configure
With Knox Configure, you can configure the following device bars:
- Status bar
- Navigation bar
- System bar
By default, ProKiosk devices hides the status bar.
The following profile settings are available for configuration in Knox Configure in the Configure settings page:
Policy | Description |
---|---|
Sound & display > DISPLAY > Hide system bar | Hides the status bar, navigation bar, or both depending on the device platform. |
For ProKiosk devices, the following profile settings are available for configuration in Knox Configure:
Policy | Description |
---|---|
Kiosk settings > STATUS BAR > Hide status bar | Hides the status bar for ProKiosk mode devices. By default, this setting is selected. |
How to change the device bars with Knox Service Plugin
With Knox Service Plugin, you can configure the following device bars:
- Status bar
- Navigation bar
The following policies are available in Knox Service Plugin by creating a configuration (by default, the first configuration is called Configuration 1):

Display > Navigation bar | Allows/restricts the device user from modifying the navigation bar in the device settings |
Notifications > Advanced settings > Show notification icons |
